Tere Dávila in Discussion with Zorimar Rivera Montes In-Person

Join the University Libraries for a discussion between Puerto Rican author Tere Dávila and Zorimar Rivera Montes, Assistant Professor of Latinx Studies in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. Dávila and Rivera Montes will talk about Dávila’s literary fiction and its relationship to Puerto Rican culture and contemporary global issues.

Tere Dávila is the recipient of two Puerto Rican National Prizes: for her novel, Nenísimas, and the short story collection Aquí están las instrucciones, both published in 2018. She has also published three other short-fiction collections, children’s books, and books on Puerto Rican culture. Her short stories have been translated and featured in international anthologies and literary magazines. In 2017 she received Puerto Rico’s New Voices Award, and in 2015 her short story “El fondillo maravilloso” was adapted into an award-winning short film.

Zorimar Rivera Montes is an Assistant Professor of Latinx Studies at the Romance Languages and Literatures department in WashU. Her research focuses on contemporary Puerto Rican culture, making specific references about how cultural products express and produce knowledge about issues such as colonialism, debt, labor, and migration. This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, Department of Comparative Literature, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, the Center for the Humanities, and the Center for Literary Arts.
