WashU Libraries Virtual Book Club: Gutenberg's Apprentice

WashU Libraries Virtual Book Club: Gutenberg's Apprentice Online

This month's WashU Libraries Virtual Book Club selection is Gutenberg's Apprentice by Alix Christie.

Peter Schoeffer is on the verge of professional success as a scribe in Paris when his foster father, wealthy merchant and bookseller Johann Fust, summons him home to meet Johann Gutenberg who is working on printing his famous Bible. Book club will begin with showing an original leaf of the Gutenberg Bible—the first book printed in the west—and discussing what the book gets right and wrong about history, followed by a discussion of Christie's novel.
