SUMMARY:Practical Steps for Increasing Openness and Reproducibility: A Day of Open Science - Presented by the Center for Open Science
DESCRIPTION:There are many actions researchers can take to increase the
openness and reproducibility of their work. Please join us for a day-long
workshop\, hosted by the Center for Open Science\, to learn easy\,
practical steps to increase the reproducibility of your work. The workshop
will be hands-on and is aimed at graduate students\, postdocs\, and faculty
across disciplines. No knowledge of programming or other specialized tools
 is required.\n\nMorning topics:\n\n\n	Project documentation\n	Version
control\n	Pre-Analysis plans\n	Open source tools\, like the Center for Open
Science’s OSF\, to easily implement these concepts in a scientific
workflow.\n\n\nAfternoon topics:\n\n\n	Build structures to support complex
workflows\n	Tie projects together across studies and teams\n	Design for
long term reuse and replication\n	Incorporate privacy protections and IRB
concerns\n\n\nIn the morning session participants will gain a foundation
for incorporating reproducible\, transparent practices into their current
workflows by creating a reproducible project from start to finish. The
afternoon session will build on this foundation by examining case studies
and designing appropriate open workflows for each situation.\n\nAttendees
will need to bring their own laptop in order to fully participate.\n\n
